APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR
Visiting the planetarium should be fun. The following general guidelines
for appropriate behavior in the planetarium are intended to make the
learning experience more enjoyable for all visitors to the Sandburg
Planetarium:
- We encourage you to be an active learner (if you don't understand,
don't be left in the dark!), but please raise your hand before asking
questions. Be polite--wait for a good opportunity to ask your question.
- Unless otherwise instructed, remain in your seat at all times (it is
unsafe to move around in a dark, unfamiliar room). If you need to get up
from your seat (e.g., to go to the restroom), then raise your hand to
request permission. If necessary, call out my name or your teacher's name
(in the dark, we may not see your hand raised). Using a flashlight to
guide students, teachers will accompany students to the restroom.
Students may not leave the planetarium to get drinks.
- Please keep the aisles between seats clear of backpacks, etc.
- Absolutely NO GUM, CANDY, FOOD, or DRINKS in the planetarium! Gum
chewing/cracking can be distracting and is not allowed.
- DO NOT throw anything at any time, especially in the dark!
- DO NOT leave trash on the floor of the planetarium -- there is a
trash can near the door.
