Illustrated Sky Poetry Assessment Rubric
Criteria for grading Illustrated Sky Poems (100 points total). Point
values may be adjusted to conform to individual grading systems.
- Poem includes the use of at least three poetic techniques, selected
from the following list. (10 points each; 30 points total)
- simile
- metaphor
- personification
- alliteration
- onomotopoeia
- repetition
- rhetorical question
- Poem includes the use of sky imagery (derived from either information
discussed during planetarium visit or real-sky observation). Ideally, the
sky imagery should have both a literal and a figurative (symbolic)
meaning. (10 points)
- Poem has been revised for content. (10 points)
- Poem has been edited for mechanics, e.g., spelling, grammar,
and punctuation. (10 points)
- The illustration is carefully-crafted and reflects the contents of the
poem. (15 points each; 30 points total)
- Poetry recital (class presentation). (10 points)
