Geotagging Photos Using iPhoto

Apple’s iPhoto (part of the iLife ’09 suite) makes it easy to geotag photos manually using “Places.” Two articles from Macworld.com provide helpful suggestions: “Working with Places,” by Derrick Story; and “Using iPhoto’s Places without a GPS-enabled camera,” by Rob Griffiths.

Tech Tips: In order to export photos from iPhoto that include location information (geotags), select File / Export… and be sure to check the box for “Include: Location information” (see below).

In order for geotags to be included in iWeb photo albums, from the menu bar select iPhoto / Preferences… then click the tab labeled “Web” and be sure to check the box for “Include location information for published photos” (see below).
