George Mason University professor Dr. Cheryl Bartholomew--Director of the
Horizons: 2000 Career and Life Planning Program--focused on how girls'
self-awareness, self-esteem, and identity affect career options, family
and lifelong goals. Dr. Bartholomew was joined by Kari Martin, a
third-year pre-med student at the University of Virginia, who shared how
she worked to overcome those factors which discourage young women from
pursuing technical careers in science and mathematics. Special guests
included Eleanor Saslaw, Director of Guidance at West Springfield High
School.
