Tish McKinstry, American Meteorological Society Maury Project (K-12 oceanography education initiative) Peer Trainer, presented "Wind-Driven Ocean Currents," one of the Maury Project's instructional modules. Students learned about large-scale ocean circulations called "gyres" and how ocean currents such as the Gulf Stream are actually part of a larger pattern of circulation of warmer water moving toward the poles and cooler water moving toward the equator.
