- Phil Wherry (psw@netcom.com), Vienna, VA, USA
Keep up the good work!
- Myungsu Suh (wx721@netcom.com), VA, US
It's great to see a program like this for girls. I went to a summer program called "Women in Engineering" eons ago when I was in high school, and loved it. I ended up going to MIT and now I develop educational software. Don't let the boys crowd you out!
- Laura Bagnall (Laura_Bagnall@TERC.EDu), Cambridge, Massachusetts
Keep up the good work!!! :-> It's nice to see science promoted for girls. .
- Linda Crowell and Vicki Phillips and Barb Colaianni (RMS@oeonline.com), Rochester, Michigan
Great job! I have enjoyed watching your pages grow. What an opportunity for the girls!
- Joanne Goodwin (jcgoodwi@pen.k12.va.us), Herndon,VA
It sounds like you are having a great time. As a female high school mathematics teacher, I know how important it is to encourage young women like yourselves in math and science. No matter how high you dreams and goal may seem, GO FOR IT!
- Kim Rhody (rhodyk@willmar.k12.cfa.org), Willmar, Minnesota
Camp T-Equity opens an important door for my daughter, and for the other participants in this workshop. My daughter thinks Camp T-Equity is "cool." As a staff member of the Bureau of the Census, I appreciate the importance of technology in making inform ation accessible to users in ways that have not been possible before. I think Camp T-Equity is "cool" too. Thanks for doing it.
- Thomas McDevitt (thomas.m.mcdevitt@ccmail.census.gov), Springfield, VA
What a wonderful opportunity for our young ladies -- our future scientists, mathematicians, lawyers, leaders -- I applaud everyone one of you for your efforts!
- Glynn Bates (gbates@pen.k12.va.us), Springfield VA

- Leigh S. Rausch (), Springfield, Virginia U.S.A.
Sounds like a fantastic program! Go girls! Would love to hear more about your curriculum, and have your program recreated for young women across the nation!
- J. Erdrich (jerdrich@egusd.k12.ca.us), Sacramento, CA
I THINK YOUR CAMP T-EQUITY IS A GREAT IDEA, I ONLY WISH IT WAS AVAILABLE IN MY AREA.
- SHANA BRIDGEMAN (a037512t@bcfreenet.seflin.lib.fl.us), FT.LAUDERDALE, FL
What a wonderful place to be! I hope your young ladies know how lucky they are to be there. I hope the camp is still in session when my girls are grown. Good luck!
- Beth Ann Gaglione (gag1428@cua3.csuohio.edu), Cleveland, Ohio
Congratulations on a successful program. I'd like to chat with you sometime about the specifics of the project. We recently completed a very similar program with middle school girls. I'd love to hear from you!
- Kristen Myers (kmyers@do1.kyrene.k12.az.us), Phoenix (Tempe), Arizona
I think this camp is a great idea! It sounds like you're all really enjoying it and learning a lot. I've been working in the sciences for 12 years now, and am currently trying to finish my Ph.D. in computer science (artificial intellignece) so that I can become a college professor. (I've decided it beats working!) I can tell you all that your expertise in computer science will open a lot of doors for you. Good luck!
- Cheryl Howard (cghoward@seas.gwu.edu), McLean, VA
Its about time.
- Ann, Rachael and Gordon Sires (jgsires@nps.navy.mil), Naval Post Graduate school, Monterey CA
Is or will the program be available in Richmond?? If so, please send contact info.
- DK Henderson (DKHONE@aol.com),
What a positive opportunity for girls. This sort of program is truly important to bridge gender/equity gaps. Congratulations!
- Trisha Brandon (tbrandon@brook.edu), Washington, DC
Lucky young women. I wish my daughters had had a chance like this. this when they were younger.
- Marianne Handler (mhan@nlu.nl.edu), Wheeling, IL
Your program is sexist and discriminatory. Frankly I find it abhorent. You are doing your nation no favour either. INCLUDE BOYS!
- Vincent Patrick (vpatrick@uniwa.uwa.edu.au), Perth, Western Australia
It makes me proud to see my alma mater (class of '83) sponsoring such a project. Keep up the good work!!
- Jamie Wernitznig (jamie@ahoynet.com), Stafford, Virginia USA
Wow! What a great job of organizing your thoughts and putting them together in a hi-tech format. I'll bet you've learned a lot about science, math, technology, and, most importantly, yourselves and your interests this summer! Keep up the good work, ladies!
- Hayden Griffin (Associate Dean of Engineering, Virginia Tech) (griffin@vt.edu), Blacksburg, Virginia
Great stuff..my little son and I just came back from his "Strart of Schooling" celebration! I imagine that the School concerned is only for girls; if not - what do the boys and thier parents think of being left out!? Have a nice time and pass the knowledge on..also to your (boy)-friends! ron and roddy bartle
- Ronald Bartle (snuffy@berlin.snafu.de), Berlin - Germany
This is an idea that could definitely be implemented in South Africa. Old style ideas getting older here.
- Rick Stratford (strric08@gsb2.ac.za), Cape Town, South Africa
I am attending a summer institute right now , learning to browse the Internet, trying hard to be prepared to bring the children at my elementary school where I am a librarian new ideas in technology! You all will be far ahead of me! How terrific!. Enjoy it all! Wish I had gone to your camp!
- Ruth Bennett (), Boston, Massachusetts
Glad to see a program like this. I hope that the young women remember that having the same opportunities as the boys doesn't mean they have to be the same as the boys... bring a woman's perspective to whatever you do! Good luck.
- david adam edelstein (daveed@microsoft.com), Redmond, WA, USA
Great Job, however, this program should be for both girls and boys, because thats what shapes a nation. Onesided programs do not help humanity at all!
- Peter Basso (peterb28@wco.com), Burlingame, Ca.
Hope you had a successful summer. Your ideas are terrific. congratulations from a H.S. math teacher.
- Susan Friedman (102575.1304@compuserve.com), Cherry Hill NJ
This is a great program. I'm only twelve myself and I wish we had something like this where I live.
- SHELBY MCKINZEY (),
I think that promoting sciences for young women is great! I only wish that I had the opportunity to participate in a camp like this.
- Jennifer Flowers (flowerss@cadvision.com), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Excellence in Education pays for itself. Congradulations to each and every participant and sponsor. Best of Wishes in the upcoming acedemic years.
- Don Flint (dflint@clark.net), Springfield, VA
Great idea - no problem with girls only - studies show that girls do best when together. Boys ought to ask for their own separate program. We've had a program here at UMass Amherst for High School girls (Project 1999) aimed at girls who may want encouragement in Engineering-aimed careers. Boys have had this kind of encouragement for years. When I went to high school(1970's), girls weren't allowed even to take shop courses or drafting. However, now I draft and draw on computer, and even get paid for it!
- Pam Stephan (pstephan@ecs.umass.edu), Amherst, Mass. USA
I was excited to read about Camp T-Equity. I try to inspire the girls in my classes to get excited and explore. I have so many women in my adult ed classes that are still afraid of "mice".
- Marge Wood,computer instructor (), Rocklin, CA
Um, Phil, Mr. Sanford, we have a little bitsy problem upstairs. You see, we have no clue how to get to graphic Netscape from upstaris here in the library. Mr. Sanford, whenever you have time, please help us. Write to us through e-mail, and leave a message saying we can visit you after school. You'll save our frustrated minds. Thanks!
- Kate and Yu-Sung (you know it), WSHS Library
Great!
- Norma Thiese (NThieseKey@aol.com), Midwest
I didn't know that WSHS had its own homepage. That's pretty wack. You girls are wild and crazy. Are you going to try to hack into any government computers? That would definitely be a skill.
- Susan Coe (scoe@vt.edu), Va Tech, Blacksburg, VA
A great! program for future women of the world. Keep up the good work. ** Is this program just for girls of Virgina?
- Don G. Dawson (dgd.apa@email.apa.org), Washington, DC
This is a great thing you are doing. Keep up the good work.
- Danny Dowler (DannyGirl5@AOL.COM), Santa Monica, California
Right on, little sisters!!! And congratulations and thanks to everyone who made this program possible! Programs like this one literally saved my life when I was in junior high school. I can't imagine how much more they would have meant if they'd been "for girls" -- I was often uncomfortable b/c I was the "only" girl in the class and tended to want to "use" computers in a different way than my guy-friends did.
- Crystal Kile (ckile@dad.bgsu.edu), Bowling Green, Ohio
It's nice to see girls and women getting involved in science. I am an elementary education major with an emphasis in Biology. So, I'm learning right along with you!! Keep up the good work! -Andrea

It ws fascinating reading all the comments. Looks as if you girls and Mr. Sanford could set up shop all over the country if you so desired. What a wonderful opportunity this has been for all of you. I do hope we are funded for many years to come. Keep up the good work! And we will watching to see what happens to each of you in the future--I'm sure there will be many successful chapters to this adventure.

I am a gifted resource teacher in Oak Park, Il. Last year a group of 6th grade girls gathered to discuss issues which concerned them. They set out to find females who had been historically significant in the areas of science and math. This year they we re given a list of 23 mathematicians (only three were women) from which to choose as subjects for reports, and a cry was heard in the land! I'm glad that girls like you and the ones I have had a chance to work with will be taking care of the world for me when I'm old. Good Luck!
- Diane S. Cummings (bobc@mcs.com), Barrington, IL
I'm a student working on my Masters of Science Degree in Technology Education at the University of Wisconsin, Stout and I would like to research the topic of why Technolgy Education courses are not more popular with girls in High School or Middle School. I would appreciate comments or ideas.
- John Ihde (John Tama @aol), University of Wisconsin, Stout

What a great program! Girls need more programs to influence development of their minds. Too many messages are telling girls to focus on their looks. I hope to see other programs like this.
- Gwen Johnson-Barbier (74461.1472@compuserve.com), Athens, OH
I'm really impressed with the program West Springfield High School has developed and with the work of the individual students. What an exciting opportunity! I was an English major myself, with no real interest in science until I came to Oak Ridge as a t ech writer. It's terrific that you all have had a head start. The force is obviously with you!

- Carolyn Wallace (CMWallace@gnn.com), Whittier, California
Great idea ... as a young woman, I was not encouraged to go into sciences either ... of course school guidence counselors are unfortunately ones who tell you what you can't do ... but today I am doing computer networking and internet work for a world wide corporation and attending graduate school doing technology studies ... go for it!!!

I am very interested in creating a similar program in my school. It is an all-girls private school, grades 5-12, just north of Baltimore City. We have 325 girls. Any information you could send on how you started and how you operate would be greatly appreciated. It sounds like such a wonderful program.

I think it is great that you have designed a camp that emphasises the math and science studies for girls.
- Barb Bremer (Barbb@montcalm.cc.mi.us), Sidney, MI
Man, I wish I had gone to a camp like Camp T-Equity when I was in high school. I always loved science, but though all the guys were smarter than me! Too, bad!! Maybe now I'd be studying geology like I though I would when I was in 9th grade. No regrets, though. Anthropology is cool, too. I do, however, have an 8th grade sister who is dead-set on becoming a zoologist. Just to let you all know, I'm going to be behind her 100% until she reaches her dreams!! Good Luck to you all! Great Job!!
