Numerous classroom computer workstations were connected to the school building's local area network; this network, in turn is connected to the Internet. Approximately six stand-alone, non-networked computers were also available.
To provide students with broader Internet experience, a PC-based server was set up in the classroom running the Linux operating system (a freely-available Unix look-alike). Using these accounts, students were able to send and receive Internet e-mail, as well as create their own home pages on the Internet's World Wide Web.
