I have had several pets. I have a sixteen year old Basenji named Mindy. She was having back problems and could not even get up one stair. We started her on acupuncture last summer and now she can get around fine. Basenjis are great dogs. They can't bark and they are flealess and have short hair. Most basejis have a great temperment, but Mindy turned sour. I have had good luck with goldfish. Mine have all had lifespans of over two years. I have also have had hermit crabs and an anole.
Last summer, I applied and was accepted to a club for thirteen to fifteen year olds at the National Zoological Park. Being an alumni of this club enabled me to volunteer for special events several times a year. This summer, I am working as a volunteer in the Reptile Discovery House twice a week. I am trained to work with objects such as python skins and turtle shells. I love being able to interact with the public (on average 200 people each time) and occasionally with the animals. I am able to observe several feedings from the other side. In addition, this spring I started working at my local nature center. Volunteering has proved to be a very positive experience for me. I am going into Marine Psycology as career.
In school, I work hard and get good grades. My parents are very supportive of me. My mom is a lifesaver. She drives me everywhere and takes care of me. They care that I do my best. I am in Camp T-Equity because I feel I need to be able to understand the Internet better. I have access to it at home, so I can view things I did in camp. After all, I will be working with computers in my future career.
