Metgram Explanation

  1. The top graph shows the temperature and dewpoint. The top line is the temperature and the lower line is the dewpoint. Time (in Z) is reported below the pressure (bottom) graph. Also time/date label are at the top of the diagram.

     

  2. Current weather, snow cover, 3 and 6 hour precipitation totals, visibility in miles, cloud cover, winds (knots) and gusts are plotted between the top and middle graph.

     

  3. Cloud level (feet) information is plotted on the second graph. Lines represent a fraction of clouds present in the sky with a short line representing scattered (2/8), two dashes representing broken (6/8) and long line for overcast skies. An X specifies sky obscurred. Cloud ceilings are listed if the ceiling is below 10,000 feet.

     

  4. Sea level pressure (mb) is on the third graph.
