CURRENT SURFACE WEATHER MAP ACTIVITY
Displaying/Printing Weather Graphics Files
Graphical Web browsers such as Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer can
display on-screen or print hardcopy of graphics files (such as GIFs);
non-graphical (text only) browsers such as Lynx cannot display graphics
files, but do enable one to save the graphics files to disk. These files
can be displayed/printed using GIF viewers
such as "GIFConverter" or "GraphicConverter" (Mac), VPIC (DOS), or LView
(Windows).
Technique Hint: If your video monitor is large enough, you may find
it helpful to use Netscape (or MS Internet Explorer) to simultaneously
open three windows: one to display the current surface weather map
activity, a second window to display a current surface weather map, and a
third window to display the weather map legend. If your monitor is too
small to display all three windows simultaneously, then arrange the
windows in a "cascade" (so that you can see all of one window and part of
the others) and click on the window that you would like to be active, that
is the activity window, the map window, or the weather map legend.
