- One very useful way to look at a time series of meteorological
data at a particular point is by plotting the data in a "meteogram." Metropolitan Quick-Looks
for the U.S. & Canada provides meteograms for the ETA and MRF forecast
models as well as a guide to their
interpretation.
- The atmosphere is three-dimensional--a few miles up in the atmosphere,
the weather may be very different than it is at the surface of the
earth. To see a clear example of this idea, visit the Home Page of the Mount Washington Observatory.
Mount Washington, the highest peak in the northeast United States, is
known for having the "World's Worst Weather."
