Sun Dog (Parhelia)
A "Sun Dog" or parhelia (mock Sun) is an optical phenomenon produced
by the refraction of sunlight through ice crystals in cirroform clouds.
Parhelia are vertical bars of colored light (as tall as the apparent
diameter of the Sun) which appear 22 degrees (about 4-5 handwidths) on
either side of the Sun.
