Makin' Flakes

January 2000 (again during 2001 & 2002), SCSA Director Mr. Sanford visited Ms. Crimmel's 8th grade English class to "winterize" the classroom in preparation for a unit on survival under extreme conditions in nature.

Students listen as Mr. Sanford explains how to fold and cut paper snowflakes...

...then try their hand at making their own snowflakes.
(Special thanks to Ms. VanDenburg for her assistance!)

Students proudly display their snowflakes,
and prepare them for hanging from the ceiling (and windows).
