You know I'm still trying to scheme up ways to get more teams to participate in the trial event, "It's About Time: Sundials." Here's my latest idea: Would it be possible for the three alternate members of each team to compete in the trial event(s)? First, it would help to ensure more schools enter the event. Second, it would help to motivate the three alternates and create a feeling they are making a more significant contribution to the regular 15-member team (other than providing back-up), especially if the trial event(s) are used as tie-breakers. My plan may require special permission from National Science Olympiad, but I think it's an idea worthy of consideration. Your thoughts?
