A Little About Mr. Sanford...

Mr. Sanford's
PictureMr. Sanford graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and a minor in secondary education. Mr. Sanford has done extensive graduate-level coursework, with an emphasis on instructional technology.

Mr. Sanford's distinguished 25-year career includes awards for Virginia's "Earth Science Teacher of the Year" from the National Association of Geology Teachers Eastern Section, and a "Distinguished Achievement Award" from Electronic Learning magazine.

Since 1984, Mr. Sanford has been involved with the American Meteorological Society's Project ATMOSPHERE, a K-12 outreach initiative designed to increase students' interest in science, mathematics, and technology through the study of real-time weather. Mr. Sanford serves as one of three "Atmospheric Education Resource Agents" (AERAs) for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Mr. Sanford also serves as a consultant to NBC4 WRC-TV meteorologist Bob Ryan's 4-WINDS Project, a regional mesonet of more than 200 school-based weather observing stations in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region. Mr. Sanford was formerly 4-WINDS station manager at West Springfield High School.

Mr. Sanford was the director of the highly successful Camp T-Equity, a technology-immersion day camp for girls, Summer '95. Camp T-Equity '95 stands as a shining example of how adequate access to instructional technology can motivate students in new and exciting ways by enriching the program of instruction.
